Women’s Recovery Academy
We provide a 12-week community recovery programme for women who are no longer taking illicit substances, or drinking alcohol, and who want to gain the skills and knowledge to maintain their recovery in the community. We also have the same programme for mixed groups in Durham and Bishop Auckland.
We provide:
- Assessment of need
- One-to-one nurse appointments
- Community Alcohol Detox/reduction plans
- Rapid reduction plans
- One-to-one appointments
- Recovery plan appointments
- Therapeutic groups
- Wellbeing/social activities
- Peer support involvement
- SMART recovery meetings
- Service user involvement
- Family programmes
- Here and Now groups
The programme provided is based on the latest evidence known to be effective for people wanting to achieve recovery from drug and/or alcohol use. This includes behaviour change programmes that use techniques such as solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills. We also use peer-to-peer support, which helps people learn from one another, through engaging with others who have been through the programme, and who are doing well and moving on in their recovery.
