Alcohol Awareness Week: Let’s talk about alcohol and work

This year’s theme for Alcohol Awareness Week is alcohol and work. So during the week of 7 – 13 July it’s a chance to shine a light on something many people struggle with in silence.

Whether it’s drinking during the working day, feeling pressure to join in after-work drinks, or relying on alcohol to manage stress, your relationship with drinking can start to affect your job and your wellbeing more than you realise.

If alcohol is starting to impact your work, your health, or just how you feel day-to-day, you’re not alone and there is support.

County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services is here for everyone, no matter what your situation is. Our free, confidential services are tailored to help you regain control whether that means cutting down to healthier levels or stopping altogether.

This isn’t just a service for people at crisis point. It’s for anyone who wants to rethink their relationship with alcohol, at any stage of life. And if alcohol has already affected your employment, we also offer support to help you get back into work through partnerships with understanding and forward-thinking employers, through our dedicated Individual Placement and Support (IPS) service. IPS is a personalised approach that matches your skills and aspirations with employers who understand recovery and are committed to helping people build a stable, meaningful future.

If you’re starting to question your relationship with alcohol, this could be the right moment to reach out. Contact us at 03000 266 666 (choose the option for your closest centre), or email us at cddars.adult@waythrough.org.uk where friendly, confidential support is just a conversation away. Whether you call, email, or refer yourself, taking that first step this Alcohol Awareness Week could be a powerful move toward something better – for you.
